President-elect Donald Trump has ruled out letting two members of his previous Cabinet – former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley – be part of his upcoming administration.
Trump, 78, was elected as the 47th President of the United States. He defeated 60-year-old Vice President Kamala Harris in the elections held on November 5. In the first term, Trump served as the 45th President from January 20, 2017 to January 20, 2021.

“I will not invite former Ambassador Nikki Haley or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to join the Trump administration that is currently being formed,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
Mr Pompeo served as CIA director and secretary of state in his first term, while Ms Haley served as his ambassador to the United Nations in the first two years of his presidency. Both of his Cabinet-ranking officials later ran against him in the Republican primary for president.
While Mr Pompeo dropped out of the race early, Ms Haley was the last challenger against Trump until February this year. Both later supported his campaign. Ms Haley announced her support for Trump during the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin in July this year.
However, in his post, Trump thanked his two former Cabinet officials for their service.
“I greatly enjoyed and appreciated working with him before, and want to thank him for his service to our country. Make America Great Again!” Trump said.
